After touring the world as a renowned DJ throughout the 1980’s, Sasko Bezovski generated the umbrella of retail stores ‘Kokontozai’ in London and Paris, combining the passion for music and fashion that has birthed a renowned cult hybrid. 1996 saw the opening of the Greek Street store, located in the vibrant flowing district of Soho, London. This was to become a renowned creative space of reverence for music artists in London and across the globe. The space began as a record store, later combined into a collaboration of the fashion label KTZ with Marjan Pejoski.

The Greek Street Kokontozai showroom window display saw the first introduction of Gareth Pugh, also seen by frequent visitors such as Nicola Formichetti and an array of other creative individuals and artists from across the globe. It was then the name had an underground cult following and its successes saw the opening of the second Kokontozai store based in the stylish district of Paris, placed on Rue Tiquetonne.

Kokontozai continues to expand both in business and product market - the year 2008 saw the birth of Kokontozai Home in Notting Hill, London. Placed in a former Scottish Butchery, also a Grade II listed building complete with mosaic floors. Kokontozai Home boasts some of London’s curious obscurities; from Taxidermy to Ivory skulls in Bell Jars, the store has been lifted to instant recognition and was awarded Time Out’s shop of the year in both years 2011 and 2012.
